A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
The Army Cadets Force breeds confidence. We encourage you to develop your one-on-one interpersonal skills by putting you through a structured, demanding and rewarding programme.

The role of the Army Cadet Force (ACF) is to inspire young people to achieve success with a spirit of service to the Queen, country and their local community, and to develop the qualities of good citizenship, responsibility and leadership.

GET OUT WHAT YOU PUT IN
But while you’re off enjoying yourself, you’re also absorbing. Constantly soaking up essential experience of leadership and teamwork. Problem solving. Communications. Decision-making. Assertiveness. Resilience. Goal setting. You’ll mop-up.

Today there are more then 40,000 cadets spread across the country. Of that 40,000 about 10,000 are girls. As well as having 40,000 cadets there are also 7,000 adult instructors trained by the British Army. The ACF is not part of the Army, as many people think, albeit partly funded by the Ministry of Defence.

While receiving a lot of valuable and essential training from the military, the ACF is staffed and administered by civilian RFCA employees, not Regular Army personnel.

As part of their training cadets take part in many activities including Fieldcraft, Skill at Arms, Map and Compass, First Aid, Drill and Survival Skills. As part of their training cadets take part in many activities including Fieldcraft, Skill at Arms, Map and Compass, First Aid, Drill and Survival Skills.

THE STAR AWARDS
Are a special scheme of training for the cadets. When a new recruit joins the cadets they will start with basic training. Having completed this the cadet will progress through the levels from One Star up to the Four Star Master Cadet, leading to a BTEC award.

EACH YEAR CADETS HAVE MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO GET AWAY
Each year cadets have the opportunity to go on summer camp and many weekends where they can take part in adventurous activities like rock climbing and canoeing plus other military activities. On camp cadets can also take part in expeditions that can count towards their Duke of Edinburgh's award.
